The authors
Narayan P. Manadhar was educated at Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu ; Bihar University, India ; and received his doctorate in economic botany at the Université Scientifique et Médicale de Grenoble, France.
Returning to Nepal, he conducted experiments on the cultivation of medicinal plants and then served in the Botanical Survey of Nepal and as ethnobotanist in the Economic Botany Section, National Herbarium and Plant Laboratories, Kathmandu. He has written numerous articles and several previous books on the ethnobotany of Nepal.
